Royal Pear : Vintage Oversized Pear Pendant in Dutch 835 Silver
$ 92.16
Sold Pears are one of the oldest cultivated fruits with a history that dates back through the centuries. Originally from Asia, but embraced by the countries along the Mediterranean where pears enjoyed the warm climate. The French were/are particularly huge fans of the fruit – in the 8th Century AD Emperor Charlemagne commanded that all his cities should have pears growing within the castle walls, specifying the types you eat raw, cook, and that bloom late. Where apples were for everyone pears were more exclusive, and would frequently be served at court. In traditional German and Eastern European cuisines pears are often pickled or incorporated into sweet-and-savory main dishes. This can be explained by the colder climate in those countries, where preserving was often the only way to enjoy fruit during the long harsh winters. Thank you for listening to my Ted talk. Manufacture Modelled in silver, of hollow but sturdy construction. There is an 835 stamp on the back of the stem.
