Royal Blue : Antique Blue Sapphire and Diamond Plaque Ring in Platinum and 18ct Yellow Gold, circa 1910
$ 97.67
I am a little lost for words with this exceptional ring – it is of the highlights of my treasure hunting career thus far. It is commanding yet delicate, as only rings made at the turn of the 20th Century know how. An absolute knockout in the most genteel way. The centre is an ideal oval cut blue sapphire of deep and delicious royal blue, surrounded by a medley of old cut diamonds, each with their own quirky little sparkle. Made in platinum and 18ct yellow gold, it truly is fit for a princess. Manufacture Handmade in 18ct yellow gold and platinum. There are no hallmarks present, the precious metals have been verified by XRF test. All gemstones have been verified as natural by an independent gemologist. The centre stone is a 1.17 carat oval facetted cut natural sapphire or rich royal blue colour. It measures 6.77mm x 5.8mm x 3.71mm. Surrounding the sapphire are fourteen assorted sized old European cut diamonds ranging from 1.6mm – 2mm in diameter, graded as G-H in colour, Si-P1 clarity with an estimated total weight of 0.42 carats. The shoulders are set with six single cut diamonds, three on each side. They measure approximately 1.25mm – 1.3mm in diameter and have been graded as H-K in colour, Si-P1 clarity with a combined weigh of 0.08 carats. All gemstones are set into platinum. The face of the ring measures 11.57mm x 10.74mm Sits 4.36mm high on the finger. Weighs 2.92 grams. The ring is accompanied by a recent valuation. Size (Aus/UK) O 1/2 (US) 7.5 (International) 55.5 somewhat resizable, please get in touch for a quote or to verify that this ring can be sized to your requirements. Condition Excellent antique condition. The ring has been re-shanked at some point, leading to the loss of the hallmarks. There are some tiny nibbles to some of the gemstones, as to be expected in a ring of this age. No faults to note. Ready for immediate and everyday wear, but please do wear with care.
