Forever & Always : Late Art Deco Emerald and Diamond Trilogy Ring in 18ct Gold and Platinum, engraved 1938

Sold The sweetest and prettiest trilogy ring, with an inscription inside the band to boot! An absolutely gorgeous natural emerald is the star of the show, the deeply saturated stone bursting with vitality. On either side are two transitional cut diamonds. Trilogy rings like this are often said to represent the “past, present and future”, in this ring the present is represented by that jolly emerald, with the days before and the ones to follow symbolised by sparkling old diamonds. A delightful romance, for sure. Inside the band is an engraved dedication: ” G.P. Mc C. to E ? 5/4/38. Depending on which country this ring was engraved the date could be the 5th of April or the 4th of May, but there is no question of the year 1938. Manufacture Handmade in 18ct gold with platinum settings. There are no hallmarks present, the precious metals have been confirmed by XRF test. The gemstones have been verified by an independent gemologist as natural earth mined emeralds and diamonds. The emerald is vivid emerald green, emerald cut. It measures approximately 4.1mm x 3.9mm x 3mm – approximately 0.32ct. The diamonds are fractions of a millimeter different in size 3.5mm and 3.75mm in diameter. (If I hadn’t measured them with calipers I would not have known.) They are transitional cut and have been graded as Vs – Si1 in clarity, J-K in colour. The combined weight is approximately 0.40ct. The gemstones are each set into a platinum coronet multi-pronged setting. The band is made in 18ct gold with gently upswept shoulders. The face of the ring measures 4.4mm x 12.55mm. Sits 3.64mm high on the finger. Weighs 1.68 grams. Size  (Aus/UK) O (US) 7.25 (International) 55 resizable Condition  Excellent vintage condition, minor signs of wear commensurate with age.
