Enchanted Romance : Art Deco Australian Opal and Swiss Cut Diamond Ring in 18ct Gold and Platinum circa 1930

Sold This was a passion project. I found the authentic Art Deco setting quite some time ago, its hero stone was damaged beyond repair but the setting reminded me of an incredible opal ring I found many years ago – so I resolved to bring her back to life. I spent over 6 months looking for just the right stone to take advantage of this magical setting, and in the end was entranced by a semi-crystal opal from Outback Opals by Justin Lang. The opal was mined in Coober Pedy – I am so fortunate to be able to work directly with opal miners to source stones like this one! Manufacture  Handmade in 18ct yellow gold with platinum topped shoulders. The inside of the band is stamped 18ct and P Plat for 18ct gold and platinum. The precious metals have been verified by XRF test. The semi-crystal opal was acquired from Outback Opals by Justin Lang and expertly cut to fit the vintage setting. It is of Coober Pedy origin and measures 9mm x 7.5mm 3.5mm. It is set in a grooved bezel with six double claws. The six diamonds set into the shoulders have been verified as natural earth mined diamonds by an independent gemologist. They have been graded as H-J in colour and Si clarity. They are old Swiss cut and have a diameter of 1.5mm each, with a combined weight of approximately 0.09 carats. The band is the classic half-round shape and has been delicately engraved all the way around both sides with organic shapes and fine milgrain. Size  (Aus/UK) O 1/2 (US) 7.5 (International) 55.5 resizing is possible, but not recommended as it will disturb the beautiful engraving around the band. Condition  Excellent. The opal is brand new, expertly cut to fit the vintage setting. The prongs have been re-tipped as necessary and all other settings checked.
